Let's get this interview started! First, can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hey everyone :) I'm CanBeatbox. My family name is Kıyamet. I used to be a musician, and now I'm a streamer. I've been playing Black Desert and loving it since November 2018.

When did you acquire your first Mystical Fish? What were your thoughts then?😎

Back in August 2023, within just two weeks, I was lucky enough to catch the Mystical Fish at Velia Beach, giving me a strong start toward this challenging goal. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, especially since the fish resources in that area are usually exhausted, which makes fishing times much longer compared to normal.

When did it become a goal of yours to collect all the Mystical Fish?

As soon as I caught my first Mystical Fish, I knew this tough challenge was going to be my next goal.

 Did you celebrate the moment, or was it more of a quiet victory?

When I caught the last Mystical Fish, I was completely unaware, sitting in my brother’s room. Before heading there, I had left my character to auto-fish near seagulls. By the time I returned, the seagulls had likely disappeared since they tend to linger only briefly before vanishing from their spots. Then I had to return to my room, and at that moment I realized and said, “I can’t believe it! I caught the Mystical Fish! It’s finally done!” It was truly an unforgettable moment.

Was summoning Vell the perfect way to wrap up all those years of fishing?

I’ll never forget those moments. :) Everyone involved in the event was full of curiosity and excitement. There were lots of messages, and people were speaking about it. I think it was really cool to be the first person to complete this special event in MENA.

So, for you, the other rewards are just the cherry on top? Or would you put the title or having your character displayed in the game in first place? 

I would put the statue in first place because only the first “God of Fishing” can receive this special reward. It’s truly a proud achievement! In second place, I’d put the title because it’s beautifully and uniquely designed. Hats off to the team who thought of, designed, and implemented it in the game. In third place, I’d put summoning Vell, since on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, I made history by being the first to do so in MENA. :)

Was there any moments you almost gave up?😐

Not at all, because I always stuck to a plan. All I had to do was patiently wait in the right spot for the moment to catch the fish I wanted, without ever giving up.

Do you fish in real life too? What got you so hooked on fishing in Black Desert?🎣

When I was little, I used to go fishing with my dad. Our love for fishing was always a topic whenever we had the chance, and this adventure lasted for years. Because of that, I think I learned how to be much more patient. By the way, my dad still goes fishing, but I can’t join him anymore. :)

When did you discover that if you have 5 Mystical Fish, you could be the God of Fishing?

I’ve known this ever since the day I started chasing the Mystical Fish. Still, if it were up to me, instead of offering this quest reward as a choice, I would give both the “Golden Ghost Whale” and the “Palm tree Float” to the first “God of Fishing” who truly deserves it. :)

🗒️🗒️🗒️What are your thoughts about the current state of fishing in Black Desert?

I was especially excited about the permanent addition of the “Weekly Fishing Tournament.” However, I couldn’t participate in the tournament during the first few weeks because I was still trying to catch the last Mystical Fish. Besides that, I also really enjoyed the extension of the fish price guarantee period from 24 to 48 hours.

Do you think many adventurers know about the Mystical Fish and the difficulty involved in acquiring all of them? 🙂

I don’t think most adventurers are aware of it or maybe they’re just not interested because they focus more on earning silver and progressing. As you can guess, I didn’t care about silver at all during this process, and it took me a full 23 months to catch all the Mystical Fish and reach my goal. From time to time, when I come across adventurers who have caught their first Mystical Fish and ask questions about it, I try to share what I know

Ever helped or inspired other players to get into fishing too?

In both life and the game, I’ve always tried to be as helpful as I can. Not just in fishing, but in every area, I’ve been a source of inspiration and have helped many along the way. ❤️

Got any secrets you’re willing to share? Maybe a go-to fishing spot or strategy?

Adventurers trying to catch the Mystical Fish shouldn’t use any floats because none of the floats currently available in the game help with this.

If you could change some things about the fishing life skill, what would they be?🗒️

Along with adding all the interconnected gear like the Manos Rod, Manos Rod Float, and Manos Harpoon to the game, I would want to increase the chance of catching “Red Tier Fish” by applying combination effects with the updated support of “Artifacts and Lightstones” suitable for this. Also, based on these updates, as long as we are fishing with the new equipment, I would make sure that items like Silver Key, Discarded Glass Bottle, Plump Coelacanth, or Ancient Relic Crystal can always be obtained alongside a green/blue/yellow/red grade fish we catch, and prevent these items from being caught alone.

And finally, anything else you’d like to share before we wrap this up?

I’m proud and happy to have made a lasting impact on Black Desert, a game I’ve loved playing for years. I want to sincerely thank the Black Desert Online team and everyone who took the time to read our interview. :)
