MAJOR UPDATES - Barter Improvements

Today, we are excited to share the Barter update first announced at the Calpheon Ball.

Barter is content where Adventurers generate revenue by trading goods for higher-level, more valuable items. Generally, this involves sailing between islands to complete trades and returning to port once the weight limit is reached.

In this update, we have added Level 6 and Level 7 trade routes connecting the major ports of each continent. While these new routes require traveling between distant continents, they are easier to manage and offer significantly higher revenue than before. To preserve the core experience of planning and navigating your own trade routes, barter goods can no longer be moved via Transport.

We have also addressed several quality-of-life issues encountered during Barter. We hope you enjoy these improvements to the trade experience.

Level 2 Barter Item Weight Reduced

To improve accessibility for rookie captains just starting their journey, we have reduced the weight of low-level trade goods.
  • Reduced the weight of Level 2 Barter goods: 800 LT → 400 LT.
    • This adjustment improves ship loading efficiency when exchanging Level 1 items for Level 2 items.
Barter Goods Price and Weight
Level Selling Price Weight
Level 1 N/A 100 LT
Level 2 N/A 800LT → 400 LT
Level 3 1,000,000 Silver 900LT
Level 4 2,000,000 Silver 1000LT
Level 5 (Normal) 10,000,000 Silver 1000LT
Level 5 (Rare) → [Great Ocean] 25,000,000 Silver 1000LT
Level 6 [New] 50,000,000 Silver 2000LT
Level 7 [New] 100,000,000 Silver 2000LT

Lower Level Barter Item Minimum Exchange Amount Change

As certain trade routes felt like a loss to take when a 1:1 Barter would appear after a refresh while bartering level 1 - 2 items, we have updated so that 1:1 Barters don't occur so that barter items can be acquired more easily.
  • Adjusted the minimum exchange amount for level 1 → level 2 and level 2 → level 3 barters.
    • Before: x1-3
    • After: x2-3

Barter Parley Consumption Changes

With the addition of new trade routes, Barter now requires more Parley. To balance this, we have significantly lowered the Parley required for existing trades and standardized the costs across both trade goods and Crow Coins.
  • Adjusted the Parley cost for certain Barter exchanges.
    • The actual cost may be further reduced by Parley reduction effects.

Barter Interaction Range Increased

  • Increased the distance at which the Barter button appears near Barterers by 20% to improve convenience.

Crow's Nest Fog Removed

Crow's Nest has long been a secret island hidden behind a thick fog. With the opening of new trade routes, the island has finally revealed itself. The bulk Crow Coin exchanges previously located at Hakoven Island have been moved here, and we look forward to many Adventurers visiting this new hub.

  • The fog over Crow's Nest has lifted, and Bartering for Crow Coins is now available.
    • Moved the Crow Coin exchange location from Hakoven Island to Crow's Nest.
  • Added Node Management via Patrigio at Crow's Nest.
  • Changed so you can obtain Crow's Nest geographic knowledge by handing over Balenos Meal x10 to Anax, the Wharf Manager at Crow's Nest.

Crow Coin Exchange Level Changes

  • Changed the required trade items for Crow Coin exchanges.

Find Special Barter Location

Previously, only the node name was displayed when a Special Barter occurred, making it tedious to search the World Map. We have added a button that allows you to find the location with a single selection, providing immediate navigation to your objective.
  • Added a UI feature that shows the location of Special Barter.
    • The button only appears when a Special Barter is active.
    • For Margoria's Star locations, navigation is only provided if the compass effect is active.

Margoria's Star Navigation Improvements

We have addressed issues where ships would get stuck on small objects near Margoria's Star. To ensure smoother sailing, we relocated certain objects.

Level 6 and Level 7 Trade Routes

As mentioned earlier, new Level 6 and Level 7 trade routes have been added. These routes connect distant continents, and while they require longer travel times, they are easier to manage and offer significantly higher revenue than before.

This update also brings a major change to trade mechanics. Because these new routes span vast distances between continents, we determined that allowing Transport would undermine the challenge of long-distance trading. To preserve the core experience of the adventure, trade goods can no longer be moved via Transport.
  • A free trade agreement has been established across the Black Desert world, opening trade between all continents.
    • Barterers have been dispatched near the ports of each continent and have begun offering trades to Adventurers.
    • Changed the trade goods list in the following regions as new trade routes were added:
      • Lema Island, Iliya Island, Hakoven Island
    • Changed trade goods to be non-transportable via the Transport system.
      • Trade goods that were already transported and traded before the Apr 16, 2026 (Thu) maintenance have been sent to the storage.
    • Added new Level 6 and Level 7 trade goods.
      • More Barter EXP can be gained than before when bartering level 6 and 7 items.

NEW & IMPROVEMENTS

CONTENTS

Altar of Blood Revamp

As announced during the last Calpheon Ball, we have revamped the Altar of Blood, a mode where three Adventurers come together in a party to defend the relic.

With the current maximum AP at 395, we have updated the mode up to the 21st Illusion, and higher Illusions will be added as the maximum available AP increases. Additionally, because there is no AP limit in the Altar of Blood, the higher your AP, the faster you will be able to defeat monsters.

Meanwhile, the required AP for matchmaking into the 21st Illusion is currently set to 400, which cannot yet be reached. This was intended to provide a challenge for Adventurers who wish to overcome the limits of their gear through teamwork, and you will still be able to enter the Illusion by queueing as a pre-made party. Additionally, we are currently preparing a new difficulty for Adventurers who have cleared all levels, which will include new challenge elements.

We hope this unforgiving defense against waves of enemies provides a new challenge and excitement for you.
  • The abyssal rift has reawakened. The Altar of Blood returns, calling for brave Adventurers to protect the sanctum.
    • You can enter the Altar of Blood via solo matching or as a 3-player party. Three Adventurers must cooperate to protect the relic from waves of monsters or defeat powerful bosses.
    • The Altar of Blood consists of 21 stages. You must clear the previous stage to progress to the next.
      • Higher difficulty levels may be added in the future.
    • When entering Altar of Blood as a party, the highest stage your party can challenge is based on the lowest clear record among all party members.
      • For example, if two members have cleared up to Stage 5 and one has cleared up to Stage 3, the party can only enter up to Stage 4 (the next challenge for the Stage 3 member).
    • If you exhaust all 5 attempts provided upon matching, your party will be automatically moved out of the Altar of Blood.
      • There is no weekly limit on entries. You can re-apply for matching and enter again at any time.
    • In addition to weekly rewards, you can obtain a first-time clear reward once per Family for each stage.
    • Clear records do not reset. You can resume your challenge from the highest stage you have previously reached.

※ Altar of Blood Guide

The Altar of Blood is divided into normal stages and boss stages.

In normal stages, your main purpose is to defeat monsters rushing toward the central relic.
If monsters reach the relic, its HP will decrease. If the relic's HP reaches 0%, the stage will fail.

In boss stages, a specific boss appears. Your goal is to defeat the boss while completing specific mechanics.
Bosses enter berserk form 6 minutes after appearing, significantly increasing their AP and DP.
If the boss is not defeated within 8 minutes of appearing, the stage will fail.

  • The Altar of Blood consists of 21 stages, from The 1st Illusion to The 21st Illusion.
    • For solo matching, you must meet the minimum AP and DP requirements for each stage.
    • If matching as a 3-player party, you can enter even if you do not meet the minimum requirements.
    • The requirements for each stage are as follows (Higher stages may be added later):
Stage Category Min. AP (Displayed AP) Min. DP (Displayed DP)
1 Normal 300 390
2 Normal 305 390

  • How to participate in the Altar of Blood:
    • Go to Menu (ESC) - War (F7) - Find Match in the Altar of Blood menu.
      • If you apply as a 3-player party, you will enter with your party members. If you apply solo, you will be matched with other Adventurers.
      • The Party Leader may change based on the order of entry.
※ Altar of Blood Rules

- Upon entry, the Party Leader selects the stage.
- Once the Party Leader selects a stage and presses Start Game, that stage begins immediately.
- Resurrection is unavailable if you die (Witch/Wizard Resurrection skills and Medical Kits cannot be used).
- All characters resurrect and recover HP upon completing or failing a stage.
- If all three party members die, the stage fails. All monsters will disappear, and members will revive with full HP. The stage selection UI will then appear.
- Campsites, Maid/Butler, World Map, Quests UI, and Minimap UI are unavailable.
- Combat and Skill EXP cannot be obtained from defeating monsters.
- Item Drop Rate and Item Drop Amount effects do not apply.
- If combat does not start or there is no progression for 10 min after entry, you will be automatically removed from the altar.

  • Clearing stages in the Altar of Blood grants weekly rewards and first-time clear rewards.
    • Weekly Rewards
      • Based on your weekly records, rewards are sent to the Black Spirit's Safe every Sunday at 00:00 (Once a week per Family).
      • Rewards are available for each stage, but you will only receive the reward for the highest stage cleared during that week.
        • Example: Even if you clear Stages 10, 15, and 20 in the same week, rewards do not stack. You will only receive the Stage 20 weekly reward.
    • First Clear Rewards
      • When you clear each stage for the first time, rewards are automatically sent to Black Spirit's Safe (B).
    • Higher stages offer better rewards, with more item types, larger quantities, and higher chances.

ITEM

Treasure Material Appraisal Removal

Black Desert has 3 types of treasure items that could be appraised to find out which treasure they were materials for, offering the excitement of uncovering the mystery behind each one.

However, as information such as which monsters drop them became widely known, Adventurers could often tell what item they had obtained based on the system message or the location where it dropped. As a result, the original thrill and excitement of appraising these items diminished.

Therefore, we have removed the appraisal process for treasure materials and changed it so the item type is revealed immediately, making it easier to identify which material was obtained.
  • Improved treasure materials so they can now be identified without appraisal.
    • This change applies to the Archaeologist's Map, Lafi Bedmountain's Upgraded Compass, and the Rich Merchant's Ring.
    • As materials can now be identified without appraisal, the appraisal dialogue option has been removed from the following NPCs:
      • Caphras's Journal (Archaeologist's Map)
      • Ain Greid (Lafi Bedmountain's Upgraded Compass)
      • Shakatu (Rich Merchant's Ring)
    • The quest summary for "Lafi Bedmountain's Telescope Parts" has been partially updated.
    • You can now obtain knowledge for treasure materials by showing the Archaeologist's Map, Lafi Bedmountain's Upgraded Compass, Rich Merchant's Ring, or their respective materials to Lavala at Crow's Nest.
      • Note: Knowledge can still be obtained through the existing NPCs (Caphras's Journal, Ain Greid, and Shakatu).

Olvia Academy Shared Tool Changes

To the brilliant Class 1 graduates of Olvia Academy, thank you for your participation.

When Olvia Academy began, we introduced Shared Cooking and Alchemy Tools for the first time. This content was added for our students' convenience, as we felt traveling back to a residence during lessons would be too tedious.

While graduates are always welcome to return, we have placed a cap on the number of Batch Productions allowed per session so that these shared tools become more accessible to the upcoming Class 2 freshmen.

We ask for your understanding regarding these changes and hope you will continue to show interest in and offer guidance to the new students of Olvia Academy Class 2. Thank you.
  • Changed Olvia Academy shared tools to allow only up to 1,000 continuous crafts per use.
    • "These tools were installed for students learning Cooking and Alchemy. As they are shared resources, please avoid occupying them for excessive periods." - Justin Bartali

New Shai Donkey Quests

A new quest has been added so that Shai can once again obtain the special donkeys previously limited to once per Family. Some Adventurers may have sold or released these donkeys to make room for horses during their early journey, only to find there was no way to get them back. Since Shai has unique interactions with these donkeys such as lying down or sitting backward on the saddle, we hope this update adds a touch of charm to your adventures.
  • Added the following quests that can be completed with Shai to obtain a donkey:
    • "A Small but Sturdy Companion", "You Had Me at Hee-Haw"
Quest NPC Prerequisites Rewards
[Donkey Trainer] Radina in front of Florin
Lv. 20 or above
Shai
Once per Family

※ Activate the "General" quest type to accept the quest.
"A Small but Sturdy Companion"
Special Carrot x5

"You Had Me at Hee-Haw"
Donkey Emblem: Derome the Donkey, Donkey Emblem: Cherose the Donkey, Donkey Emblem: Vallet the Donkey (Select 1)

  • Changed [Mount] Fwuzzy Alpaca to [Mount] Shai - Fwuzzy Alpaca under the Suggested tab in the Quests UI.
  • Improved the quest name and dialog for "Two Faces of a Hero", which can be accepted via the Black Spirit after accepting "How a Merchant Guild Survives" from Povios in Grána, to clearly indicate that it is a Crossroads Quest.
    • New Quest Name: [Crossroads] Two Faces of a Hero
  • Improved to navigate to Gray Biants at Olvia Academy when pressing the Silver (Church) Buffs button via Find NPC at the top right.
  • Changed so completing an Olvia Academy Pass objective now grants both the normal reward and pass reward simultaneously.

UI

World Map Search Function Improvement

The World Map is one of the most frequently used displays for checking routes, managing nodes, and finding NPCs. However, many Adventurers felt that the search function was too limited and that useful info was scattered across different UIs, making it hard to find a destination quickly.

In this update, we have redesigned the search bar to support unified search, allowing you to find various information in one place. We will continue to improve the World Map to ensure it serves as a convenient tool for exploration, Life Skills, and progress.
  • Improved the World Map's search function to be more convenient.
    • Changed the design of the search UI and improved it to allow integrated search for various information in a single search bar.
    • Search for the following items in the UI:
      • Node Product
      • Node Name
      • NPC Name
      • Key functions such as Storage and Repair
    • Production Node Filter from the Production Node Information has been combined into the button on the right side of the search bar.
    • The function to navigate to a selected city or town in the previous search list has been changed to the territory icon button at the top of the search UI, and can be used in the same way as before.
    • The search also displays results even if the geographic or NPC knowledge is not acquired, and selecting the result moves the camera to that location.

Boss Info Improvement

Many Adventurers participate in boss subjugation, including World Bosses, Field Bosses, Dark Rifts, and Hunting Bosses. Previously, this information was scattered, making it difficult to see which content was available or where to go. To improve this, we have introduced a unified Boss Info UI.

Through this new UI, you can check the time remaining until a boss appears and view the remaining HP after they have spawned. Selecting a boss from the list will also provide navigation to their location. You can access this via the Menu or by pressing the Dark Rift icon in the bottom right. We will continue to improve accessibility so you can easily jump into the content you enjoy.

  • Added a Boss Info UI so that boss information can be checked more easily.
    • Open the UI via Menu (ESC) → Adventure, or by pressing the Dark Rift button at the bottom right.
      • Pressing a boss icon on the World Map (M) also displays the Boss Info UI.
    • The Boss Info UI combines the Dark Rift and Boss Notification functions into one.
  • Check the following information in the Boss Info UI:
    • World, Field, Dark Rift, and Hunting Boss Information
    • Remaining time until boss spawn.
      • Spawn time is only displayed up to minutes.
    • Remaining HP after a boss spawns.
    • Navigation to the selected boss's location.
※ The remaining time is not displayed for Field Bosses and Hunting Bosses. Instead, the UI will show the server they spawned on.
※ The remaining time until spawn is not displayed for bosses with random spawn times.
  • A spawned boss is displayed with a red icon on the top of the Boss Info UI.
  • Bosses are sorted in the order of their release date.
  • Changed the Dark Rift icon at the bottom right to display the Boss Info UI when pressed.

  • Changed the Transport Status UI on the World Map (M).
  • Changed the Transport button icon at the top of the World Map (M).

  • Changed the design of the Guild Information button in the Guild UI.
  • Changed the design of the Settings button in the Friends UI.
  • Changed certain Ship icons on the Node War Result UI.

Black Shrine Reward Distribution Improvement

The way Black Shrine rewards are distributed has been improved. Previously, any unclaimed Black Shrine Boss Blitz rewards could not be obtained the following week. To improve this, Boss Blitz rewards will now be automatically sent to Black Spirit's Safe at a designated time, and your Boss Blitz history can be found in the Reward Log within Black Spirit's Safe.
  • Changed the Black Shrine weekly Boss Blitz reward to be sent to the Black Spirit's Safe.
    • The reward will be automatically sent to the Black Spirit's Safe after reward calculations at midnight every Sunday.
    • Accordingly, the Black Shrine reward has been changed to accumulate in the Black Spirit's Safe.

    • Changed the tooltip of the Boss Blitz reward button.

Red Battlefield Matchmaking Improvements

  • Improved the conditions for starting and continuing Red Battlefield matches, and added penalties for not accepting matches.

    • A penalty preventing match requests will be applied if you repeatedly do not accept after the match Accept/Decline UI appears.
